Friends, it’s here. It’s a holiday weekend. As a 9-5er myself, there are few things I get more excited about than having that extra day off work. It suddenly feels like the whole world has opened up! Sure, it’s only 24 hours, but somehow, it’s a game changer.
Do you have plans for your long weekend? If you live in Austin, or hey–if you want to come visit Austin (do it now!), can I please give you a suggestion? The JW Marriott. Seriously. The dreamy, gorgeous JW Marriott. Whether you’re eating or staying, it is every kind of wonderful you could hope for.
Dan and I recently had the opportunity to go on a date at Osteria Pronto–the JW Marriott’s local, indulgent, Italian restaurant. We partook in their brand new wine bar and afterward, we could not stop talking about it. Our server, Patrick, toured us around Italy on our wine flight, from Piedmont to Veneto, and all the way down to Sicily. The wines ranged from crisp and refreshing whites to plummy, full-bodied reds. But y’all the pairings. The pairings were out of control. We devoured calamari with fried lemon (oh my gosh, you have to try a fried lemon), an exquisite charcuterie board, artfully marinated olives, the greatest mushroom pizza known to man (more on this in a second), a hazelnut chocolate crepe cake (yes, you heard me right) and a mixed berry crostata. The amazing part is that I did not need to be rolled out of the restaurant. Truly. We ate like kings but everything was delicately and thoughtfully created, delivering extraordinary flavor while still feeling light.
Now this Wild Mushroom Pizza. The crust was salty, crisp, and buttery–topped with perfect proportions of roasted mushrooms, peppadew peppers, roasted garlic, and arugula salad with truffle vinaigrette. I am a full-on carnivore but I have to say, I didn’t miss the meat for a second. I am telling you, you need some of this pizza.
As if dining at Osteria Pronto wasn’t perfection enough, the following night launched the ultimate girls weekend by staying at the JW in celebration of my friend, Lauren’s, birthday. We retreated to a stunning Executive Suite, with breathtaking views of downtown Austin and Ladybird Lake. The hotel staff’s kindness in delivering us my favorite bottle of wine from the night before was so thoughtful and added to the specialness of the night. From the beautiful decorative details of the room to the gorgeous rooftop pool, we could not have found a more perfect location in Austin to celebrate Lauren.
I have always been a big fan of the Marriott brand, but that weekend further solidified why I love the Marriott so much. The JW does it right in their their thoughtfulness and attention to detail ranging from the food they serve, to the environment they create, to the way they serve their guests. I have lots of love in my heart for the JW Marriott and if you haven’t been there or haven’t yet made your way in to Osteria Pronto, go ahead and do it. You won’t regret it.
